Supervision is a method of supporting staff so they can provide for the needs of their students.
There is a statutory requirement for schools to provide supervision and support for their safeguarding professionals.
Safeguarding supervision is a regular, planned, accountable two-way process which should offer emotional support and develop the knowledge, skills and values of an individual, group or team.
Supervision ensures cases don't drift, maintains the focus on the child, and helps professionals to find out the evidence base for assessment and intervention
Our DSL Supervisors are highly trained, with extensive safeguarding practice background and our sessions provide the opportunity to:
- Access a safe space for workers to reflect on their practice, as well as to develop skills and knowledge
- Focus on exploration of thoughts and feelings and provide opportunities for staff/ practitioners to explore issues such as diversity, power and discrimination within their role
- Reflective conversations relating to values and ethics as well as individual case discussions
- Further opportunities for peer supervision
- Understanding of safeguarding processes and measures, safety planning and wider knowledge of services available to support students and their families
- Foster professional development
